Marta Luna Valpiana (she/her,1991) is an italian visual artist.
Her practice moves across transfeminism, and ecological thought, investigating fluidity as a dynamic, living relationship between beings, constantly evolving.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from IUAV in Venice in 2016 and continued her studies in Visual Arts for the Digital Age at IED in Milan. A sensibility about the relation with non-human beings appears soon in her works. In 2021 she completes her second Master's degree in Futuro Vegetale at the University of Florence, combining her artistic practice with her interest in the plant world. Marta Luna primarily works with natural materials such as clay or textiles with printed plant traces. She focuses on the connections between living beings, matter, and energy, being attentive to different perspectives and relationships.
Water and earth, both as media and metaphors, guide her exploration of transformation, resonance, and interdependence.
She has exhibited in several group shows, including recently:
Ruina in Fabula, ex-officina Rubetelli, Montecchio Emilia (2025); Uraura. Ci sono ancora semi da raccogliere e spazio nella sacca delle stelle, 100Orti, Vicenza (2023); Future Deserts, Oasis2027, Salbker Wasserturm, Germany (2022). She has participated in international residencies such as: 2024, VIR Viafarini-in-residence, Milan; 2023, Savvala, Latvia; 2022, LIOS Lab, Poland.
Currently she lives and works in Milan, Italy.
